My name is Lauren Ward, and I am the School Social Worker at AC Reynolds High School and Charles C. Bell Elementary. I have been a School Social Worker with Buncombe County Schools since 2013, and I really enjoy working with students and their families on a daily basis. Prior to coming to Buncombe County Schools, I was a foster care social worker with Henderson County DSS for 8 years.  I attended UNC Asheville for my undergraduate degree, and received my Master's of Social Work from UNC Charlotte in 2006. I am licensed as a School Social Worker.

I grew up in the far Western mountains of North Carolina, and after spending some time travelling and attending graduate school, I am so happy to be back in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. In my free time, I like to be active with my toddler and family. I am thrilled to be part of the wonderful Reynolds family and incredible Reynolds counseling staff! We have truly unique students at ACRHS, and I am lucky to interact with them on a daily basis.

School Social Workers act as a link with students, home, community, families, and the school. We collaborate with parents, guardians, teachers, administrators, counselors, and outside resources to help students realize their potential and work towards success. We strive to help students realize their academic and personal potential to be globally productive citizen in the 21st Century.

Some of my roles as a school social worker include:
Assessment and identification of student and family strengths and needs
Coordination of services for families and students.
Crisis Intervention
Individual and group counseling
Advocacy for students and families
Program development
Consultation and collaboration with school staff
Network with community agencies and identify resources

Please e-mail me at lauren.ward@bcsemail.org or call 828-777-5357 if you need supports or assistance.
