ART THIS YEAR

As you know, school is going to look very different this year, but that is not going to keep us from making art. For art at home you will need the “supplies needed” listed. You are welcome to purchase your own sketchbook if you prefer. Please reach out to me ASAP if you cannot get any of these supplies and I will be happy to arrange a pickup or drop off of what you need. No matter if we are in the school building or doing remote learning, students will get a new art assignment each week. These assignments will involve watching and responding to videos, completing online activities, answering prompts in your sketchbooks, and creating artwork.

K-2: SEESAW

All art assignments will be posted through your student’s learning management system, which for K-2 will be SEESAW. Your student will be logged into their class seesaw, and will be able to click their name to toggle to their “Art” seesaw. If you are unsure about this process please reach out to me. Some assignments will be completed entirely through Seesaw, and some will be completed on paper. Even when projects are completed on paper or in the sketchbook, your student will be required to post a picture or video to seesaw as a response.

3-5: GOOGLE CLASSROOM

All art assignments will be posted through your student’s learning management system, which is Google Classroom. Some assignments will be completed entirely through Google Classroom, and some will be completed on paper. Even when projects are completed on paper or in the sketchbook, your student will be required to post a picture or video to Google Classroom as a response. Be sure your student has joined their google classroom for art by visiting classroom.google.com Click on the “+” in the top right hand corner, and enter the join code affiliated with their school and grade listed in the table below.

MEET MRS. SEICKEL

Hello! I am Erin Seickel, I teach art both at Bell and at Barnardsville Elementary. This is my second year at these schools, but my 11th year of teaching elementary art! I have a 8 year old son, who is in third grade this year, and a 5 year old son, who is starting kindergarten. They both keep me on my toes! My husband is an environmental designer in Asheville, and we love hiking, running, and camping with our boys and our dogs Kona and Chubbs. I look forward to making art with your student this year!
