Rose, Jill (Media Center)

That's me,  Jill Rose, the School Library Media Specialist, with Clifford, the Big Red Dog at a library conference! You can usually find me enjoying book characters in the Bell Media Center, but it is not often I get to hug a book character in 3D!

I am in my 7th year at Bell and have been a School Library Media Specialist for almost twenty years. Before moving to the Asheville area, I was the Media Specialist at Alpharetta High School in Alpharetta, Georgia. While at AHS, the Media Center was selected as the State High School Media Center of the Year in 2007.  Just last year, I achieved National Board Certification in the Library Media discipline. I always strive to create the best learning environment I can for students, inspiring a desire for lifelong learning. My goal is to model this concept and lead by example.

My mission is to encourage students to love reading and to provide access to both print and digital books as well as other stimulating instructional resources. I enjoy learning 21st century skills with students such as 3D printing, Minecraft for Education and other creative technology learning platforms.
Not surprising, one of my favorite pastimes is reading! You might also find me hiking the trails around Black Mountain with my husband of over thirty years, Alan. I am also a devoted Mom to two grown sons, both book collectors! Since I have been at Bell, we have welcomed two wonderful daughter-in-laws and two delightful grandchildren to our family!
