Charles C. Bell Elementary School opened the doors
to students for the first time at the beginning of the 1961-1962 school
year. It was named for Mr. Charles Carol Bell who was a member of the
Buncombe County School Board from 1944-1969. Mr. Bell holds the record
as being the longest serving board member in the history of the county
system. Originally housing grades one through eight, it now serves an
average daily membership of about 300 students, in grades kindergarten
through fifth. Located in the Reynolds School District, our students
transition to Reynolds Middle School and Reynolds High School.
Bell is a community based school. Parental involvement is vital to
our success. The partnership between parents, staff and community has
paid high dividends.
