Readers Odyssey Team 2018
Readers Odyssey is a reading competition much like Battle of the Books.  Teams involved include 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students from Woodfin, Leicester, Emma, and Bell Elementary Schools.

Leicester Elementary won this year's competition. The Bell team was a close 2nd place. The competition was held on April 25th at Leicester Elementary.  Jennifer Hand and Haley Stamey served as question reader and judge.

The Bell team is made up of 8 fifth graders:  Noah Robinson, Christian Kern, Olivia Greenspan, Luke Anderson, Caden Russell, Kayla Thompson, Isabella Ogle, and Natalie Wilton.

The group began preparing at the end of November and met once a week to discuss the texts and write questions about the books. The books for this year include:
Flora and Ulysses by Kate DiCamillo
Hatchet by Gary Paulsen
Poppy by Avi
So You Want to Be President by Judith St.George
A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park
How to Steal a Dog by Barbara O'Connor
I Survived Hurricane Katrina 2005 by Lauren Tarshis

Students are required to read at least four of the books but most of the kids on the Bell team read 5 or more.

Way to Go Bell Students!
